ROAM has many payment types, from cash to credit cards, Groupons to gift certificates. The following tutorials will guide you through the process of handling the various payment types.
All payment types are very similar. Once you’ve learned how to take one payment type then others are very quick to learn. These first two videos introduce you to taking simple payments, like cash.
By far the most common payment type is via credit card. Roam is fully integrated with a payment gateway to make entering and bookkeeping for credit cards very simple. Also, with the security rules around handling credit card information, a merchant must adhere to certain requirements. Roam minimizes your liability risk.
Roam can issue and redeem both gift certificates and rain checks. Gift certificates are issued through the mailing list, but rain checks are created as a form of refund payment.
Either by accident or otherwise there are occasions when a payment taken on one reservation needs to be transferred to another reservation. These transfers cannot be done as a refund and payment as that would skew your accounting. Rather, they are accomplished via a transfer.
Social Payments, such as Groupons, are not just payment types. Roam ensures that coupons taken are valid, used during the proper period, and are only used for ‘deal’ items.
